· Mobile meals delivered Tuesday through Thursday to individuals/families mainly on the western side of Ashe County
· A food pantry where individuals can pick up grocery carts of food. Many items can be picked up weekly while others can only be given out monthly. The hours are Tuesday through Thursday, 9am-2pm. No appointment necessary and no paperwork required.
· Food backpack program in support of Blue Ridge Elementary School students/families where shelf stable food “backpacks” are sent home weekly to those families who have signed up with the school. Each bag contains meat vouchers that can be redeemed for two portions of frozen meat at the parents’ convenience.
· AOM also hosts an important fund raiser/mental health event in our twice per month fish fry. These occur on the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month, 4-7pm.

Food and Nutrition Services is a federal food assistance program that is to help “supplement” the food needs of individuals. The program helps low-income individuals obtain a more nutritious diet by increasing food purchasing power for households that meet program eligibility requirements. The amount of benefits received depends on the number of eligible persons in the household, the household situation, and the amount of monthly countable income determined after certain deductions are subtracted.
Benefits are issued monthly by an electronic benefits card. This card is used like a bank debit card. Each time that you use your card, the amount of your purchase is automatically deducted from your benefit balance. After each purchase, your receipt will show the amount of your remaining benefit balance for the month. Benefits can only be used for approved food items.

Generations Nutrition services provide an opportunity for a delicious, dietician approved meal five days per week in either a congregate setting, located at their Senior Center, or through their Home Delivered Meal Program.
Meals are served to persons 60 years of age or older and their spouse, regardless of age. People under 60 may participate for the full price of a meal unless they qualify for ‘special eligibility’.
Congregate meals are served at their Senior Center every day, Monday through Friday, at 12:00 noon. This is a unique opportunity for our community members to connect with friends as they enjoy a hot, nutritious meal. Generations encourages their participants to come early and/or stay after so they can be involved in the numerous activities occurring each day at the Senior Center.
Generations Home Delivered Meals Program enables home-bound adults who are experiencing challenges with meal preparation the opportunity to have a meaningful connection to the community through a hot meal and a friendly visit from one of their many volunteers each day. Not only do the volunteers deliver a meal each weekday right to the door of the recipient, but they bring a warm smile, a hug, and a quick well-check just to make sure the recipient has everything they need. Generations also partners with the Sharing Center to provide weekend back packs for their Home Delivered Meal clients to ensure they have meals on the days Generations is closed.
Pre-registration is required for both Congregate and Home Delivered Meals.
